Dr Kate Brierton

Dr. Kate Brierton is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and author based in the United Kingdom, known for her passion for compassion in her professional work. After completing her first degree at Cambridge University, she pursued her interest in psychology and completed her Clinical Psychology qualification in 2002 at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience in London.

In her private practice, Kate has worked with individuals and families of all ages, addressing a range of mental health challenges. While she initially trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), her current practice focuses primarily on Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) combined with mindfulness techniques.

Kate is registered with both the British Psychological Society and Health and Care Professions Council, and is well-respected in the psychology community for her expertise in compassion and wellbeing.

Beyond her private practice, Kate is committed to bringing compassion into schools. Since 2015, she has been working with colleagues and staff to build a compassionate culture in a local secondary school. She has also become an Associate Author with Cambridge University Press, regularly presenting on compassion and wellbeing in schools to teachers internationally. Her book, “Cultivating Teacher Wellbeing”, a guide for educational managers, was published in 2022.
