Kate’s Bio

Dr Kate Brierton  MACantab DClinPsy CPsychol

Kate is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with a passion for compassion. After completing her first degree at Cambridge University, she qualified in Clinical Psychology in 2002 at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience in London.  In her private practice, she has worked with clients of all ages facing a wide range of challenges.  Although initially trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), she currently uses compassion focused therapy (CFT) in most of her work with clients, combined with mindfulness.  She is registered with both the British Psychological Society and Health and Care Professions Council.

As well as her private practice with individuals & families, Kate is also on a mission to bring compassion into schools. She has been building a compassionate culture in her local secondary school, with the help of colleagues and staff, since 2015. In 2018, she became an Associate Author with Cambridge University Press, regularly presenting to teachers internationally on compassion and wellbeing in schools.
